It’s March – how do you keep up when life moves fast?
I don’t know the answer. However, I do know that I can struggle to keep up momentum constantly and know that it’s critical to maintain boundaries.
My word of the year helps as I repeat it daily: EQUANIMITY. Defined as inner balance, inner peace and my favourite definition: the art of delegating your energy intelligently.
I interpret this as using my strengths when I can, acknowledging when I can’t and getting help when I need. I love my work, love being busy and like to lean into a frantic pace. So balancing this with swimming in the ocean and time out with my family keeps me strong.
So far this year we’ve worked with many wonderful teams including the following:
- Ways of Working (WOW) workshop for our own Aide de MD crew in Manly
- Leadership offsite with Royal Far West in the beautiful Southern Highlands
- A hugely successful International Women’s Day dinner hosted by Manly Business Chamber
- A week of workshops in Newcastle
Next on my list is Singapore in April and then a holiday in Thailand. Our team is providing leadership mentoring to countries as far afield as Tanzania, Myanmar, Berlin and Brazil.
Next time you are feeling “busy” instead of stressing, try leaning into it. Choose to embrace the pace but also schedule time for whatever activities achieve inner balance for you. Don’t forget to book your holiday.
