Challenging Times – who can you trust?
I have been working in a variety of challenging environments recently, including partnership discussion, staff management and re-direction.
One of the most critical issues for an md is to run a business effectively while being aware of the people in your business and how to manage them fairly – true leadership is a challenge. Transparency, clear direction, consistency and confidence in your own actions are all important but can waver occasionally, particularly when the market is turning or a new competitor enters the field.
At these times, turning to someone you can trust is invaluable. Search for a guide/mentor/consultant who will help to keep you on track, play devils’s advocate and confront the “elephant in the room” – daunting but essential. The business plan may not always follow the path expected, re-direction can be relatively simple if managed and controlled.
