What Does Your Business Mean?

Question: In your logo, what does the man under an umbrella sitting on a ladder represent?

An interesting question. A long-standing client of mine posed the above question this week and I had to stop and think about the answer. I chose the picture when I launched my business because it represented so many different aspects of life in business which appealed to me. After nearly 7 years, I still feel strongly about the picture and its representation as follows:

The ladder: objectivity, ascending, the view from the top, always learning, balance
The umbrella: protected, defended, open
The sea: freedom of thought, relentless, challenging
The boat: always a way out and another direction to go, rowing can be hard
The beach: Ever-changing, peaceful, rock solid under your feet

I really believe that business and home life need to co-exist, the balance changes and it is a challenge sometimes but it can be done with thought, planning and a sense of humour.
